Nintendo finally announced some new Switch hardware, but it's not the Switch Pro like most everyone was hoping for. Instead, it's a Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) and it will be released on October 8 at a price of $349.99 (USD). This is the same release date as Metroid Dread.

As the name would imply, the new model features a larger, 7-inch OLED screen. It will also include better base stand, better audio, 64GB of internal storage, and a wired ethernet port on the dock.

There is no 4K output here. There's no improved performance. The screen resolution is still just a 720p maximum. The battery life is also not improved. There is no new CPU. There is no additional RAM.

If this still sounds appealing to you, you may be interested to know that the new OLED model comes in two flavors. There is the red and blue model with a black dock that resembles the original Switch model. There is also a model that comes with white Joy-Cons and a white dock. The docks themselves are roughly the same save for some rounded edges and that aforementioned ethernet port.

All existing accessories will work with this OLED model. The new dock, the one with the LAN port, will actually work with the older Switch models if you just want to upgrade that.

Is an actual Switch Pro model still coming? Depending on who you ask, the answer seems to be a firm maybe.
