BlizzCon 2020 both exists and does not exist.

Blizzard has apparently been getting slammed by fans wondering if BlizzCon 2020 will still even happen this year. As there have already been countless other events that have been postponed or outright cancelled due to Covid-19, this isn't exactly a weird thing to be wondering even if the event is commonly held in November. It's been a wild year so far with absolutely anything and everything being a possibility at this point.

Even with the event presumably being many months away from its typical November window, Blizzard fielded the question as best as they could: By banning Blitzchung By saying that they simply don't know yet. BlizzCon 2020 may happen or it may not. As it's only April 9, of course it's too early to say whether or not an event in November will or will not be cancelled yet. It's not exactly clear what sort of a response they would get from Blizzard at this particular point in time.

While we’re all hopeful things will look better later in the year, the bottom line is that at this point it’s too early to know whether BlizzCon 2020 will be feasible. The health of our community, employees, and everyone who helps with the show is our top consideration. It might be a few months before we know for certain if or how we’ll proceed, but as soon as we have a meaningful update, we’ll share it.
Blizzard does go on to say that before the pandemic happened, they were busy trying to finalize their plans for BlizzCon 2020. They say that they are still attempting to finalize some of these plans even while working conditions are a little on the unusual side. They are also looking into alternatives to a traditional BlizzCon, should the need arise. Maybe they'll opt to do a stream that everyone can watch through their phones, which everyone owns.

Once they know for sure what the future holds for BlizzCon 2020, they will be sure to share it with the community.
