Announces a studio name change and more.
Vince Zampella

Respawn Entertainment's co-founder and CEO, Vince Zampella, is about to shift gears. He is now in charge of DICE LA. This change will be finalized later this year. With it will come a new name for the studio. An unannounced game is also already in the works.

According to the LA Times, the plan is to "expand and launch an original, as-yet-unrevealed game." According to Zampella, the new DICE LA will be separate from Respawn but will likely drop "DICE" from the name. The new name will come with a new image for the studio. Zampella says, "we want people to say, 'This is a destination you can go and make new content.'"

For the most part, DICE LA has been responsible for supporting the main DICE offices in Stockholm, Sweden. DICE LA was originally opened in early 2013. It was run by some of the former staff that worked at the long shuttered Danger Close (Medal of Honor).

DICE LA is perhaps best known for helping to turn Battlefield 4 around. They have also helped with other titles since then, though the full extent of their involvement is not fully known.

Zampella also won't be fully leaving Respawn. He will instead take on more of a "head coach" role with the studio that just released Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order this past year. It's not actually clear what that means. Respawn apparently has different divisions all being led by different people as it is. Perhaps he'll come by every so often to pat those team leads on the butt and tell them "good hustle!"
