Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Update Brings 'Solid 60FPS' to Consoles

A major update is now available for consoles and PC that boosts performance.

Patch 7 for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was released today. This update is a big one for those playing the game on consoles because Respawn says that the Performance mode for the game now offers a "solid 60 FPS," though it does come with a couple of caveats. Quality mode was also given some optimizations to boost and smooth over performance.

One of the catches with hitting that 60FPS mark...

  • Respawn Finds Single Line of Code that Caused Months of Issues for Apex Legends Players

It was like "finding a needle in a haystack."

For months now, Apex Legends players have been complaining about issues where various weapon sound effects and visual effects just flat out stopped playing during a match. The issue seemed to start for most of those impacted around the start of Season 16, which began in February 2023.

The story of this bug and how Respawn arrived at the fix is quite interesting. Thankfully for all of us, they shared the entire story...

First of Many Performance Patches Released for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

    More updates are already promised.

A new update for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was released on May first specifically for the PC version of the game. This update supposedly tackles some of the title's massive performance and technical issues that were so bad EA had to issue a public statement on the day of the game's release.

Today's update is specific to the PC release of the game. The update says that it offers "performance improvements for non-raytraced rendering."...

EA Releases Statement on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's Technical Nightmare

    Enough with the excuses.

If you haven't yet heard, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor came out today and wow is it ever a mess. The game suffers from a myriad of technical issues across all platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and especially PC.

Platforms have exhibited everything from textures and objects taking upwards of 15 seconds to load into a scene, to "Performance" modes on consoles struggling hard to hit 60FPS, dropped frames and inconsistent frame times...

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PC Requires 155GB of Space

The requirements for the game have been updated and it's not good news.

The PC requirements have been updated for the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and it's not particularly good news for those with limited storage space or bandwidth caps.

Prior to today's update, the required space was already sitting at 130GB. Now, that required space has jumped up to 155GB. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is apparently going the Call of Duty route here. With the April 28 release date rapidly...

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Story Trailer is Light on Story

Finally, a story trailer that doesn't just spill the entire can of beans.

EA and Respawn Entertainment just released a new story focused trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Unlike many other story trailers for games, this one doesn't exactly reveal much of the plot. At least, I don't think it did. It was kept vague enough while showing a bunch of quick scenes.

Still, if you don't want any spoilers at all, it's best to avoid this trailer.

    Star Wars Jedi:...

EA Fires Over 200 Apex Legends QA Testers via Zoom

Of all the ways to let someone go, doing it via a Zoom call and after a night shift shouldn't be one of them.

On February 28, EA tried to quietly lay off over 200 quality assurance (QA) testers from their Baton Rouge office. These QA testers were primarily working on the Respawn Entertainment developed battle royale game Apex Legends. The initial reporting about these layoffs came to light via Kotaku, who says that the layoffs happened via a Zoom call.

    The process of laying...

    Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Delayed

The Respawn developed sequel is now coming in April.

Delayed, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is. The game, which was originally set to release on March 15, 2023, will instead be pushed back about six more weeks to an April 28th release.

The delay was announced through Twitter by game director Stig Asmussen. The short of it is that Respawn needs some more time to polish the final release and enhance performance.

An additional statement was issued by...

Star Wars Jedi: Survival Seemingly Given March 2023 Release Date

An official announcement is expected at The Game Awards.

The Steam listing for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been updated with a March 15, 2023 release date. Prior to this recent change, the game was merely expected to be out at some point in 2023.

It seems somebody with access to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's Steam page jumped the gun a bit because that March 15, 2023 date has been altered yet again to a vague "Coming Soon." Thankfully, as this is the Internet and...

EA wants to take a Call of Duty approach to the Battlefield franchise.

As part of its major overhaul to the Battlefield development teams, EA also says that they are looking to create a "connected Battlefield universe." The major publisher wants to expand upon the franchise much like Activision has done with the Call of Duty franchise. Taken at face value, this could indicate that EA wants to have multiple studios create Battlefield games and experiences on a more regular...
