Xbox One S All-Digital Edition

Microsoft officially announced a new Xbox One SKU today. It's called the 1TB Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, or the Xbox One SAD Edition if you're feeling cheeky. As you may have already gathered from the name, there is no optical drive included on this Xbox One.

It's just like a normal Xbox One S except you can't play any disc-based games. You can only download games or stream them. So just like the regular Xbox One S, you can still pre-order games, pre-load games, save games locally and to the cloud, and you still have access to your entire digital game library. It's literally an Xbox One with one less feature. I just cannot stress this enough.

The initial release is priced at $249 (USD). It is slated to release on May 7, 2019. When it comes out, it will include three bonus games: Minecraft, Sea of Thieves, and Forza Horizon 3.

The non-all digital Xbox One S console seems to go for $299, though you can get a bunch of various bundles for $249 each through Microsoft's own store. So, the pricing on the Xbox One SAD Edition seems a little odd given those other bundle prices. However, those other bundles seem to just include one game, and not three games like the SAD Edition includes.
