Nintendo Switch Online Service
Nintendo briefly announced that their online service for the Switch will begin on September 18. On this date, you will be able to sign up for a free 7-day trial.

Afterwards, you will have to pay to continue using the service. This online service will act similar to Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus. It will facilitate online multiplayer gaming between players. It will also allow users to backup save data to the cloud. We also know that users will sometimes be offered special savings, but those complete details are not yet known. We also know that some older games from the NES era will be updated with online functionality.

Pricing ranges from $3.99 (USD) for one month, $7.99 for three months, or $19.99 for a full year. Those looking for a "Family Membership" option can have up to 8 people making use of the Switch Online service for $34.99 per year.

We'll have more information on September 13 with a new Nintendo Direct.
