Spider-Man PS4 is set to rank among Sony’s biggest releases of 2018. The game, developed by Insomniac, is a glossy and vast Spider-Man adventure, and one of the more serious adaptations of a superhero game that we’ve seen. With Marvel fully on board, Spider-Man PS4 appears to be a world away from the poor to acceptable Spider-Man games we’ve become accustomed to.

Release date announced
In fact, with such an abundance of talent working on the game, it may well offer the same quality that we’ve come to expect from Marvel’s work on the MCU. While much of the story remains the subject of speculation and mystery, we do know that much of the game, starring a 23-year-old Peter Parker, emphasizes his everyday life, as well as his alter-ego life as a superhero.

One thing we do know is that the release date has been set for September 7.

We also know that, while Spider-Man won’t be given the ability to injure or kill civilians, he’ll be taking selfies with them, giving them high fives, and even pulling out the finger guns.

The game will be released in a number of different versions. There’ll be the normal edition, priced at $59.99, the Digital Deluxe version at $79.99, and the Collector’s Edition at $149.99.

Batman-style
It appears as though Insomniac’s Sony exclusive has seen Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham series. The trailer shows Spider-Man picking out criminals from above, silently stalking his prey one goon at a time.

Let’s face it: superheroes are all the rage right now, and Marvel is clearly trying to capitalize on the success of the MCU. While they’ve had the upper hand over D.C. on the big screen, however, it’s been the Dark Knight that has proven to be more popular with gamers. There have been numerous Batman video games that have pleased comic book fans, such as PS4’s Batman: Dark Knight, the final chapter of the Arkham series. Other titles are included in Betfair’s mobile casino games, such as Batman Begins and Batman vs Superman slot. The latter is offering a jackpot of £1,207,281.80 at the time of writing, which might just be a day’s salary if you’re Bruce Wayne.

Spidy-style action
The trailer for Spider-Man PS4 also reveals Spidey at his acrobatic best. Not only will he be pulling off his usual tricks, such as swinging from one rooftop to the next, he’ll be displaying his remarkable agility at its fullest, along with both webs, when in combat. Add in fights on the rooftop and action under a truck, and it’s a story very much geared towards Spidey’s webs. It’s all in-game, too, which is further evidence that the world is going to be a beautiful one to explore.

The brand new Insomniac story offers an interesting take on the famous superhero costume. While the PS4 costume adheres to almost all depictions of the webbed one, dating back to 1962, the huge spite logo that stretches across his torso certainly deviates from what we’re used to. While not exactly the same, it brings back memories of Spidey’s classic black costume, which later turned into Venom. The game will take in a number of various costumes, each equipped with superpowers; so upgrades and new abilities can be expected.
