Netflix recently released the debut trailer for their upcoming animated series based on the Castlevania. Now, hold on, it's really not as bad as you're probably thinking! It actually looks quite good. Check out the story synopsis below along with the debut trailer.Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar.
See? I told you! The series officially begins on July 7, 2017.
I'm surprised to see Frederator Studios pull off a Japanese animation style. It's quite appropriate for the Japanese franchise. I'm curious on whether this will be on Netflix Japan or not. Furthermore, IF it's on Netflix Japan, what will the title look like? I don't even know if the Japanese are familiar with the word Castlevania, considering that's our localized title. But if they use the original Japanese title, then what would the logo look like? Also completely forgot Adi Shankar is an executive producer, which is cool because he seems to manage projects from series/franchises I enjoy (007, Mighty Morphing Power Rangers, Judge Dredd, etc.).
If Rainmaker Entertainment/Wow! Unlimited Media company requires this level of quality, then maybe their Super Human Samurai Syber-Squad reboot might actually be worth watching. I mean, kids becoming superheroes in a CG world to stop viruses from digital terrorism that affects the real world, could be somewhat borderline interesting. Plus there will be recurring roles for the characters we're actually familiar with. I just hope Rainmaker realizes it's been done before, and it was... Okay at best. Honestly, Matthew Lawrence was way cooler in Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World.
