Ghost Recon Wildlands is a fictional game that takes place in the very real country of Bolivia. The fictionalized Bolivia is overrun and controlled by Mexican drug cartels. The real Bolivia doesn't really appreciate being depicted as such. Cue the lawsuit!

Reuters says that Bolivia's interior minister, Carlos Romero, told the French government (Ubisoft is in France) that Bolivia has "reserved the right to take legal action" if the French government doesn't intervene. This complaint was filed with the French embassy.
“We have the standing to do it (take legal action), but at first we prefer to go the route of diplomatic negotiation,” he told reporters.

Ubisoft issued their own response.
“While the game’s premise imagines a different reality than the one that exists in Bolivia today, we do hope that the in-game world comes close to representing the country’s beautiful topography.”

Works of fiction, how do they work?
