Every time a new piece of kit is in the pipeline, then the rumours and hype, specs and 'leaked' photos hit our screens as the excitement builds.

This has been the case repeatedly and something that we have come to accept and even enjoy. Some might ask "why all of the excitement?" That question is pretty easy to answer when you take time to consider how much we rely on our Smartphones, laptops, consoles, tablets and all the other electronic innovations we can enjoy.

Browsing the internet, playing on games like mobile bingo sites, keeping up with family and friends on social media sites plus a whole host of other useful, entertaining and enjoyable tasks are at our fingertips and only one touch away.

March sees the launch of the Nintendo Switch, and still we are not sure what it is going to be capable of with Nintendo leaving a lot of questions unanswered. We still do not know what the cost of its online service is going to be.

The Switch promises to be a phenomenal piece of design, being able to have that high quality gaming on the go and be able to share that experience with others using the same controller is a brilliantly thought out concept.

The Switch is the small 6.2 inch screen and it's really well made. The display is gorgeous and contains a lot of detail and bright colours. Ok the size of the screen means that sitting away from it can be frustrating as games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe requires you to be closer, especially in battle mode.

For some the display's 720p resolution might be a problem but reports say that is not the case and that the Switch handles everything pretty well.

One possible issue reported is that Zelda and Splatoon 2 have major jaggies which were pretty noticeable on the big screen but as more info about the console's technical specs are released it is thought that there will be plenty more to discover.

We still are not sure of some of the features like the battery life, user interface and multi-touch but as the USB-C charging port is housed at the bottom of the console it won't be possible to charge the Switch whilst it is stood on its kickstand, again this could prove frustrating for some but it's still not a massive issue.

Nintendo have really done themselves proud with the Joy-Con as they are the best controllers that the company has produced from both a tech and design angle.

Together they are just the same as any other controller with Joy-Con L and R offering dual analogue sticks, share and home buttons. There are also two sets of face buttons and four shoulder buttons.

The Switch also includes some bespoke tech like the new HD rumble. Playing when the controllers were docked in their charging stations pad should not cause any issues, the rounded shape of the rear grips are a good fit for most hands.

Of course being able to split the controller into two so that you can create a local multiplayer within the same controller is pretty cool. The Joy-Cons can be held sideways and are comfortable to hold. Most games work in this mode, and it’s a cracking feature.

Prolonged gaming might lead to some problem of cramping but all in all the Joy-Con and the Nintendo Switch is a pretty incredible piece of technology.
