Red Dead Redemption Coming to Xbox One Backwards Compatibility on Friday

This Friday, July 8, Red Dead Redemption will be added to the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility list. This means that every Xbox 360 owner of the game will be able to play the game on their Xbox One consoles.

In addition, the game will be available for purchase through the Xbox One Games Store starting this Friday.

Backwards Compatible games typically include better performance compared to their 360 counterparts. If you want, you can snag Red Dead Redemption for the Xbox 360 right now for just $7.49 (USD) through the Xbox Live Marketplace.

  Even though all these upgrades/reboots/compatibility games are making a ton of money and people are buying them up, I find it a bit disconcerting that "new" games seem to be lacking. I play on PC so you may think "what's the big deal then and why do you care?" but the thing is a lot of these games do make it to PC and can be fun.

  Looking at when RDR came out, around the time LA Noire and GTA IV were also released, and seeing as those two games had a hell of mess of a PC port, Rockstars probably had to built such a weird game architecture for RDR in the consoles that they looked at it and never wished to have to go through the work of porting it to the PC. Its probably so bad that they dont think its worth to go back to that game and try to even make a re release for the current consoles.
  If we will ever see an RDR in PC it will probably be RDR 2 (I hope)
