GameStop is about to unleash their own credit card on to the unsuspecting world. Destructoid was provided images and information regarding a GameStop credit card that features an insanely high interest rate of 26.99%. At present, the average interest rate (APR) is about 13% for cards like this.
Reportedly, anybody that is a PowerUp Rewards member is already pre-approved for the card. Those who use the card will get 15,000 bonus points for signing up if you are a Pro Member and 5,000 points for being a Basic PowerUp member. The sources close to Destructoid have been unable to say specifically when GameStop plans to roll this plan out to consumers.
While that interest rate is insanely high, chances are if you are shopping at GameStop on a regular enough basis to be a PowerUp Pro member, you probably don't much care about your financial situation that much to begin with. For everyone else, it may end up being a hard lesson in how to handle finances if they think this card will let them pick up a new piece of hardware without hassle.

I remember discussing things like this with a group of friends a couple years ago that the fact that someone would rather buy a game then pay their car insurance, well now that person has the option to technically do both but the game is not on credit and if they don't have the cash to pay for it they will just rack up debt.

GameStop, the physical retailer that sells video games and video game accessories, told all of its stores today that they should remain open. A memo sent to all store managers says that all stores should remain open even if the city or state goes on lockdown to protect against the spread of Covid-19. The retailer told its employees that they, much like grocery stores and pharmacies, are "essential retail" and are thus exempt from abiding...-

by Shawn ZipayWelcome to GameStop, where our employees are completely expendable.
We're still in the midst of a global pandemic but that sure hasn't stopped the morons of the world from wanting to open everything back up. Speaking of which: GameStop corporate have started to reopen a number of stores around the world. They join city mayors, state governors, and a bunch of Trump supporting protesters that blindly threw themselves at an astroturfing campaign to force people back to work. It's easy...-
