  • Ubisoft Adds Watermark to Child of Light PlayStation 4 Shared Screenshots

If you share a screenshot from the PlayStation 4 version of Child of Light, chances are you have noticed an Ubisoft watermark in the lower corner of the picture.

These shots come courtesy of 2K Sports' Jared Rea showing off a few screens from his time with the game. The Ubisoft logo is quite visible in the lower right corner of his shared shots.

There is no word yet if this watermark is also added to recorded footage of the game from either the PlayStation 4 or through the Xbox One's DVR feature. It should be noted that another recent Ubisoft release, Trials Fusion does not include any watermark in the shared images.

Developers are able to dictate what can and cannot be shared through the PS4 Share functionality. However, this is typically used to block out major plot points of a game from being shared through video, images, or during Twitch streaming. 2K Sports did have their own block in place on audio for NBA 2K14 video, but only to avoid potential music licensing issues.

Naturally, some gamers are upset over the added watermark.

      It's very effective.

Earlier in the year, we learned that Tencent was teaming up with Ubisoft to create a new subsidiary studio. This new studio, this new Ubisoft, would focus on popular Ubisoft IPs such as Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. The new subsidiary was valued at about €4 billion, which includes the roughly 25% investment (€1.16 billion) from Tencent.

Though work is still ongoing to get the studio opened by the end of the year, we...

Ubisoft Back on their Exclusive Storefront BS Again
      by Shawn Zipay
Several upcoming titles are not headed to Steam.

Remember how in November 2022, Ubisoft made this big return to Steam? Since the initial release of Assassin's Creed Valhalla on Valve's platform, Ubisoft released several other newer titles. It looked like Ubisoft was playing a bit of catchup with releases on Steam after several of these titles enjoyed long exclusivity periods on the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft's own storefront, Ubisoft Connect.

      With this trickle of Ubisoft...
