  • Watch the First Five Minutes of BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea

The Burial at Sea DLC is rapidly approaching release for BioShock Infinite. As such, Irrational Games has released a video of the first five minutes of the DLC alongside a handful of new screenshots.

I think this goes without saying but if you don't want any spoilers, don't watch the first five minutes of gameplay.

We still don't have any solid idea on the release date for this DLC. Hopefully it's very, very soon.

I just hope Irrational Games (and more specifically Ken Levine) doesn't change their minds on how they will approach DLC in future games. I like the development of DLC after the game has reached shelves, giving us time to actually enjoy the product we bought before waiting for more. I'm sick of seeing Day One DLC announced before the game is even out, in order to keep brick and mortar stores "alive" as if the game itself offers no value to the customer if it's the same product through every store (I'd hate to think grocery stores would suddenly require us to pre-pay to reserve milk and get bonus eggs or bread depending on the store). BioShock Infinite's approach also lets me feel like I bought the whole product, instead of wondering what was locked already despite being completed.

Unfortunately, as impatient customers we all gave Mr. Levine a ridiculously harsh time, harassing and rushing him to give us value for the Season Pass. Sometimes I think the Season Pass should have been made available after the announcement of DLC in development so we don't fool ourselves into thinking DLC is around the corner until it really is around the corner. But then the funding from the game's price alone may not be enough to produce DLC. Sigh... So unfair. Day One DLC just might be what we always wanted as a necessary evil. I still hate it with such a passion though. I can only hope Irrational Games doesn't change their minds in future games.
