XBOX: 1,600 Layoffs Today, Another 1,600 Over the Next Year, Four Studios Now Independent or Sold, Arkane in Limbo

More broadly, Microsoft is cutting 4,800 jobs.

As a quick reminder: Microsoft plans to spend $190 billion on AI in 2026. In 2025, the company spent $80 billion...

Lord of Hatred Review: Diablo 4 Finally Finds Its Final Form

This is Diablo 4 at its best. I mean it this time. For real.

Returning to the world of Sanctuary for this latest chapter feels like a true homecoming for those of us who have spent hundreds of hours traversing its dark and unforgiving landscapes since the base game launched back in 2023. Oh look, Black Mesa announced another delay. This is totally shocking and unexpected. Xen is delayed (again). Oh no. Surprising. Etc.
Straight to the bad news: we are pushing back the release of Xen. We are truly sorry for getting everyone's hopes up and then delaying... again. We worked very hard to make December, but we are not yet ready. As a team, we take FULL responsibility for that. We have an internal deadline we are confident in, and we will be getting everyone more details

Major Overhaul Coming to Steam Curators

Valve sent out word earlier that there is a major revamp coming to the Steam Curator system. These Curators are typically led by people that range from influential YouTube personalities, game enthusiasts, critics, journalists, and the like. The system has been a mixed bag of hit and miss. A big focus for this total revamp from Valve is an overhaul in how Curators can interact wi...

Jungle Inferno Content Update Announced for Team Fortress 2

Valve decided that they were tired of being mocked for not developing anything and have decided to do something about it. So, they put together a new "Jungle Inferno" content update for Team Fortress 2! Of the six new maps that have been announced for this update (so far), Valve created one of them!

That map is called Mercenary Park.
After a decade of dustbowls and gravel pits, it’s time to pack your snorkel, find your flip-flops, and endure a series of painful yellow

    CS:GO Dust 2 Getting a Makeover Soon

The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive developer Twitter just sent out word (two hours ago) that Dust 2 is getting a lovely makeover soon. The tweet states that the updated version of the map will be released for testing via the next beta depot for CS:GO. While I'll try to keep an eye out for it, chances are the diehard fans out there will know about it long before I ever get news up about it anyway. From the looks of the included image, Valve seems to be returning to the old school 4:3 a...

Valve Removes 173 Spam Titles from Steam Yet Keeps Achievement Farming Games

Earlier, Valve pulled 173 "spam" titles from the Steam store. These titles belonged to Silent Echo Studios. The studio avoided paying the $100 fee for Steam Direct on multiple occasions by submitting multiple games at once. This led to multiple games being added to the Steam store to the tune of roughly a couple dozen games per month. These were all submitted with Steam trading cards and thus attracted collectors that just had to catch 'em all. The studio made a pretty penny on the sale...

Valve's Fix for Combating Review Bombing is a Graph

Review bombing is when a bunch of Steam users get together in an effort to drastically raise or drastically lower the user scores for a game. It's usually the case that a developer or publisher has done something that people don't agree with so they "get back" at them by submitting a bunch of negative reviews. Those mass spammed negative reviews are then upvoted in a mass circle jerk while any positive reviews are mass downvoted. This is all done in an effort to... do... something? I guess their...

  • How Many Games Did You Complete in 2025?

Make up your own definition of "complete."

Was 2025 a big year for game completions for you, or were you more of a "stick to one never-ending, live-service game for the entire year" sort of player?

For this, you can take whatever definition you want as a game "completion." Beat the main story? Earned 100% of the game's achievements? Or simply played enough that you're satisfied with what you accomplished and have no plans to return any time...
