Plus, new details about crossplay, the season pass, and more.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Infinity Ward revealed today that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will feature a 100-player Ground War mode for its launch in October. I have to imagine that some people at DICE and EA are paying a bit more attention to the franchise knowing that this is a thing that is very real and very much coming soon.

The reveal of the game's multiplayer says that there will be quick, close-quarter 2v2 experiences with the Gunfight game mode. Traditional 6v6 multiplayer modes will still exist in addition to modes that support 10v10, and 20v20. The Ground War mode is where the game will truly shine though, boasting "epic large-scale" combat for more than 100 players at a time. Infinity Ward continues on to say that this is "just the beginning."

Of course, not much is really known about this Ground War mode. Activision has not come forward to say that this is a new Battle Royale game type. Rather, it's just simply a new multiplayer mode and that's all anybody really knows about it so far.

A multiplayer reveal trailer was also shared with the world today. You can find that below after we share some additional details on the multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be released on October 25, 2019. A pre-order beta begins first on September 12 for the PlayStation 4. Those that choose to not pre-order can dive into the open beta on the PS4 a few days later. A second beta weekend the week after (September 19-23) is for all platforms. From September 19-20, those that pre-ordered on the Xbox and PC can play, while anybody regardless of pre-order status can play on PS4. The beta then opens to everyone on all platforms from September 21-23.

There will be no season pass for the game. This was reiterated today after having been revealed back in May. And though we were told that crossplay would work in Modern Warfare, we weren't told to what extent. Today it has been confirmed that crossplay works between PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Yes, the dream is very much alive for fans that have been waiting for it. This is also great news for PC players who constantly got the short end of the stick when it has come to dwindling player counts online.
