  • First Tiny Images of Call of Duty: WWII

Thanks to Charlie Intel, the first low resolution images for Call of Duty: WWII were uncovered. These images can apparently be seen on the updated login page for the Call of Duty website.

I'm not kidding when I say that these are low resolution.

If so, yeah it did. I really cannot stand that setting any more for games. It's probably why I feel like BF1 is such a breath of fresh air. I wouldn't mind some new WWII games but not from Call of Duty. I really don't trust any of them to not screw it up somehow.
Yeah, not just that but so quick to leave a game to jump to another and I don't trust any CoD game either.

I didn't like Advanced Warfare because of the boost dodging and too much verticality, so i'm interested to see what Sledgehammer make without sci fi available to them.
I don't really care about the setting, WW2 means more in games like Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, or the Brothers in Arms games, where the technology and war zones of the era all play huge parts in how the game feels and plays, if the speed and map layouts are too similar to recent games it'll just feel like a reskin, especially if the old guns act like modern guns ala BF1.
A massively scaled down COD game could be refreshing, but it could easily end up feeling shallow to fans of the recent games, i just don't know what else they could do to make it feel meaningfully different... unless there's some bonkers amazing stranger than fiction story, which i'd be way into.
That too. I think people have come to expect all the bling and gimmicks in many games and to come out with one scaled back, I think people are going to say how it is missing a lot or how it should have been an expansion pack or something. I also think Treyarch was the better developer of CoD. They didn't make Modern Warfare, but gamers at the time were ready for something a bit different and a modern CoD was refreshing from BF2/142.

I guess we will see what happens, but no matter what gets announced I wont be getting it day 1 for sure.

Taking another approach to this discussion, i absolutely love World at War (again, Treyarch, hey), but this was literally back during the infancy of this franchise's growth to global dominance. There had only been 1 Modern Warfare before going back to WW2 but they definately spiced it up in a few ways, having Gary Oldman and Kiefer Sutherland for the campaign were great choices, they upped the gore to promote the violence of the pacific theatre and brutal invasion of Russia, and on the multiplayer side certain maps had useable tanks to mess with the infantry combat, weapon attachments were reduced to a scale more believeable for 'fake' WW2, and the then standard 3 tier Killstreaks were modified to have attack dogs instead of an automated attack helicopter, which was brilliant! Those dogs were scary as hell!
Additional note, the flame tech got a lot of praise, one of the best flamethowers in video games.

Perhaps to offset some feelings of reduced content, they came up with Nazi Zombies, which i know loads of people love to hate on, but i probably played more of that mode than the actual multiplayer, which is impressive considering it only had one map, and that mode saw lots of success and growth in future games so it must still be popular.

This was all 9 years ago, i don't envy the task Sledgehammer have ahead of them.

I loved world at war. Its definitely on top of best call of duty list right with Cod2 and MW4. I guess because it came right after MW4 it managed to still change a lot, be inovative and fun and not feel like the same recycled game all the time.
I think one of the great things about the singleplayer was how it portrayed a more human emotional side of war and not just explosions and action. I actually thought the dismemberments were quite well placed because they made me feel bad about what I was doing wich was pretty much shoot other people.

I loved how World At War had 4 player campaign coop and splitscreen options. That needs to be a thing again. Namely the 4 player bit, since I know splitscreen is also in other titles.
