Crime Boss: Rockay City Steam Review

A decent payday.

INGAME Studios has been hard at work since Crime Boss: Rockay City was released in March 2023. The game reviewed rather poorly during its 2023 debut and you can tell INGAME took the player and reviewer criticisms to heart. Since that release, the studio has released several major updates for Crime Boss ahead of its June 18, 2024 release on Steam. Crime Boss initially appears to outsiders as a game much akin to the Payday titles. That is, you would think that it's a...

This base PS5 controller already features amazing haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, motion controls, a touch pad, and a tried-and-true design that fits comfortably in most everyone's hands. Sony essentially combined some of the best features of the previous-generation PlayStation controllers and then added...

Band Together in Terror: The Outlast Trials Review

The Outlast Trials proves that survival horror can be more fun with friends.

The Outlast Trials is a four-player PvE game taking place in the Cold War era. The game's opening moments and lore paint a gruesome and wicked scene that will be familiar to series veterans but disquieting to those new to the Outlast universe. Players work their way through a series of experiments, each of which plays out on various large maps like a police station, a courthouse, a carnival, and more. The g...

EA is Changing the Name of Their Latest Battlefield V Elite Soldier

It turns out the name belonged to a real-world resistance fighter, not a Nazi.

One of the new Elite soldiers in Battlefield V is getting a name change from EA and DICE. The new Elite, Wilhelm Franke, is the current name of one of the pre-built soldiers players can purchase for real money to use in multiplayer.

This character in Battlefield V is a German that fights for the Axis, aka "the baddies." Or to say it another way: He's a Nazi. In real life, Wilhelm Franke...

Mercury Map Released Early as DICE Pulls Two Game Modes from Battlefield V

DICE giveth and they taketh away.

First, the good news for Battlefield V fans. Today, DICE released the new Mercury map a day earlier than expected. It seems as though today's release doesn't actually require any additional client update as it was included in the last major update from last week. That's awesome! You can dive in, perhaps literally, to the new Mercury map right now on all platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

What you cannot do right now is play the...

A Look at the New Mercury Map Coming Thursday to Battlefield V

The battle for Crete is about to begin.

A reveal trailer for the upcoming Mercury map was released a little bit ago today. This map is coming on May 30 for everybody that owns Battlefield V and will cost you nothing. It is, hopefully, the start of some fresh maps for the game which is in desperate need of new content.

This map will be the start of a few Mediterranean themed maps. This one in particular takes place during the real-life Operation Mercury along the Cretan...

  • Real Money 'Battlefield Currency' Finally Announced for Battlefield V; New Patch Arrives April 4

Two things were revealed by DICE and EA today for Battlefield V. First is the changelog for the soon to be released Battlefield V update. This is the second update for Chapter 3: Trial by Fire and, as you expect, includes a lot of changes for the Firestorm battle royale mode. Do note that the link I provided here to the update changelog is to a PDF.

With that out of the way, it's now time to talk about "Battlefield Currency." The community has already started to call...

  • Battlefield V 2019 Roadmap Reveals New Map Releases and New Theater of War

Battlefield V 2019 Roadmap Reveals New Map Releases and New Theater of War

DICE has finally provided the roadmap for Battlefield V through Fall 2019. Included in this roadmap are mentions of new maps, which look to begin in May, and a new theater of war. Given the name of the new theater, Awakening the Giant, slated for Fall 2019, is the upcoming theater of war.

Given the title of that new theater, I think it's safe to say that they're referencing the United States. This is based off of the famous quote from Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto in reference to...

Battlefield 5 'Firestorm' Battle Royale Reveal Trailer and First Details

The upcoming battle royale mode for Battlefield 5 was finally revealed today thanks to an all-new trailer. The trailer doesn't show actual gameplay, but it does offer an "in-engine" look at some of the antics you and your crew will get up to.

I suppose I should preface this by saying Firestorm is the name of this new mode. It's slated to be added to Battlefield 5, free of charge to everyone that owns the game, on March 25.

    Firestorm finds 64 players battling...

  • DICE Buffs Shotguns in March 5 Update for Battlefield 5

DICE Buffs Shotguns in March 5 Update for Battlefield 5

DICE has already provided the patch notes for the Battlefield V update that is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, March 5. This is "Update #4" for Battlefield V Tides of War Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes. Yeah, their naming conventions on these updates are a bit annoying, I agree.

Of the changes included in this update, we're going to see an overall buff to the shotguns in the game. DICE somehow came to the conclusion that they were now weaker than SMGs? I, uh, hm......

  • Battlefield 5 Adds Combined Arms Co-op, Balancing, and More in Tomorrow's Update

A patch that is tentatively slated to be released tomorrow, February 12, will add in some new content and features for Battlefield 5 players. Some of these new features include a four-player co-op game mode called Combined Arms. The update will also add in DLSS support and better RTX support for those using supported cards.

DLSS is a new technology that, in simple terms, makes the game look better and perform better through machine learning. It's mainly useful for resolutions...

  • EA Apparently Blames Weak Battlefield V Sales on Prioritizing Campaign Over Battle Royale

Just when you thought the general rabble about Battlefield V was finally quieting down, EA released their Q3 2019 financials to investors today. In doing so, EA's top brass say that Battlefield V sold roughly 1 million units below expectations because development prioritized a single player campaign over getting a battle royale mode ready for launch.

To its credit, Battlefield V still sold 7.3 million units across all platforms, but it's still considered underperforming according...

  • Battlefield V's Latest Update Improves Panzerstorm Map, Reduces Footstep Sounds, and More

The second part of the "Lightning Strikes" update for Battlefield V has finally arrived. With it comes a bunch of much needed improvements to the Panzerstorm map alongside some new gear, gameplay tweaks, and more.

The first half of this Lightning Strikes update went live earlier this month. In that update, DICE upped the volume of footsteps to a very, very audible degree. Some may say that they increased it a bit too much. I am one such person. In fact, it seems as though...

Battlefield V is Now the First Game to Support Ray Tracing

With today's update to the game, Battlefield V is now the first game out there to support DirectX's real-time ray tracing (DXR). If you own an Nvidia 20xx card, you may want to check it out for yourself. Or maybe don't, because the performance hit is, to put it mildly, massive.
So, what is ray tracing? Essentially, an algorithm traces the path of light from many different viewpoints and simulates the way it interacts with 3D objects in the scene. As the ray moves through the scene it
