How does Metro, Caspian Border, Wake Island, and more sound to you?

EA held a small stream today in which they talked about some of their FPS games, notably Apex Legends and the upcoming Battlefield 2042. This prelude to the full EA Play Live slated for July 22 provided some fresh details for Battlefield fans today. Notably, we now have confirmation that Ripple Effect Studios is working on a game mode that will bring back some fan-favorite maps from the previous Battlefield installments.

This has been a rumor for a little while now. None other than Tom Henderson, a known leaker of fairly accurate Battlefield news, said that the final mode may be something called the "Battlefield Hub." This Hub will feature these old maps running on the Battlefield 2042 engine. This was mostly confirmed today by Ripple Effect studio head Christian Grass. Again, this name isn't exactly confirmed, just the general idea behind it.

"I can't say that much about it, but what I can say is that one of the components in this experience that we're creating is that we're adding some of the fan-favorite maps back into Battlefield 2042. But the entire experience, you have to wait a bit longer before we reveal what that is."
The Battlefield Hub, if it's actually called that, will go where the [REDACTED] currently sits on the Battlefield 2042 modes page. At present, we still don't know very much about the Hazard Zone mode that was announced, but not explained, back when the game was first revealed.

Now the question most everyone of you out there has on your mind is: What maps might we see?

According to Henderson, the following maps will be included:
  • Operation Metro
  • Operation Locker
  • Wake Island
  • Siege of Shanghai
  • Arica Harbor
  • Caspian Border
Both Metro and Locker? Oh my. Where is Strike at Karkand? What about Grand Bazaar or even Seine Crossing? Maybe more maps will be added later on, so keep those fingers crossed.
