Capcom announced yesterday that the release date for Onimusha: Way of the Sword has moved up slightly. Instead of coming out on September 25, Onimusha will instead release on September 4, 2026. Capcom gave itself a little more distance between its new title, Grand Theft Auto 6, and the pre-GTA launch traffic jam other studios have set up to also avoid releasing near Grand Theft Auto 6.
Pre-orders for Onimusha: Way of the Sword are already live. You can purchase either the Standard, Deluxe, or Premium Deluxe editions before September 24 in order to still get the Early Adopter Bonuses as rewards. Onimusha: Way of the Sword is coming to Steam, Epic, the Microsoft Store, XBOX, PlayStation, and Switch 2. A demo for all but the Switch 2 version is available now.
In the demo, players can experience the game’s satisfying action while exploring an early slice of the game. Players with save data from the demo can also look forward to claiming a Kubi Akari charm as a special bonus when the full game arrives on September 4.
