Kyiv based developer, 4A Games, has been quietly working on a new Metro title. 4A Games, alongside publisher Deep Silver, just announced Metro 2039.
The announcement is about as barebones as can be these days. We just get a look at the usual Metro "watch" design, which usually displays a countdown on how much longer a filter will last. The time on the announcement shows "20:39" which is obviously a direct reference to the next game being Metro 2039. The announcement trailer also has some radiation sounds, which are also probably quite familiar to anybody that has played any of the Metro titles.
The full reveal is expected to take place on April 16 at 10 AM PT. The official Deep Silver website also includes a newsletter sign up form in case you wanted to have new marketing announcements emailed directly to you.
We obviously have no idea if this game will be more of a linear experience like the earlier Metro titles or more like 2019's Metro Exodus, which featured open-world style hub areas. It's also highly likely that you won't be playing as Artyom again in Metro 2039, but I wouldn't be too surprised if we still see him pop up somewhere in Metro 2039.
