Sony is in the process of shutting down Bluepoint Games, the PlayStation subsidiary that is best known for developing several remakes for the PlayStation platform. Initial reporting on the shutdown of Bluepoint comes from Bloomberg who, citing a written statement from a PlayStation spokesperson, says that the decision was made "following a recent business review."

Bluepoint Games will officially be shut down next month. There are roughly 70 employees at Bluepoint that are now effectively out of a job.

Bluepoint Games is an incredibly talented team and their technical expertise has delivered exceptional experiences for the PlayStation community. We thank them for their passion, creativity and craftmanship.
Bluepoint Games was founded in 2006. Before and after being acquired by PlayStation Studios in 2021, Bluepoint was best known for their relatively high quality remasters. Bluepoint released the God of War Collection and The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection for PlayStation 3. They also released the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Several additional titles followed, including Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Gravity Rush Remastered, Shadow of the Colossus, and the full remake of Demon's Souls.

Since being acquired by PlayStation Studios in 2021, Bluepoint Games was only credited with working on one title. They were a support studio for God of War Ragnarök. Bluepoint was working on a live-service God of War title before that game was cancelled in early 2025.

The Bluepoint acquisition seems to have been completely wasted by Sony leadership.
