  • Rainbow Six Players Report Receiving Weird Bans for a Period of 67 Days

Oh my god, it's just like the meme! Six seeeeeven! 🤷
A ban message in Rainbow Six Siege saying the person was banned for 67 days, just like the viral 67 meme.

Many Rainbow Six Siege players reported seeing ban messages pop up informing them that they have been banned from the live-service shooter for a period of 67 days. Players say that the ban reason was "due to harassment" and that the 67-day bans were clearly being done in a reference to the viral meme that your kids absolutely love for some reason.

The ban messages popped up over the weekend with the hardest hit being Rainbow Six Siege content creators and streamers. This led many fans to believe and wonder if the Rainbow Six Siege servers were hacked. After all, the game's servers were hacked only about a week back. It was that previous hack that kept the servers offline for a few days while Ubisoft restored a backup.

It's not very clear what is going on with this new issue. Ubisoft does not admit that a second hack has taken place. They instead have said that those who received messages between 1 PM ET and 4 PM ET on January 4th should disregard said messages and that they were just "false notifications."

If you received a ban notification between 1 PM EST and 5 PM EST on January 4th, this was not official and can be disregarded. Note that receiving these false notifications does not result in a real ban. The esports blue banner has also been temporarily disabled following reports of unofficial messaging.

With the team back at full capacity, we are working on resolving recent issues such as the synchronization errors and server disconnects.

    Thank you for your support!
This does not explain how or why these messages went out in the first place, nor does it explain why the ban notifications very obviously made streamers and content creators the main targets.

Beyond these apparently "false" ban notifications, Rainbow Six Siege is still dealing with several real issues. Players have had to contend with synchronization errors and server disconnects throughout the weekend. Ubisoft says that since their team is now back at full capacity following the holiday break, they will be working on fixing these errors.

According to the Rainbow Six Siege status page, those issues may have actually just been resolved while in the process of this article going live. Prior to right this moment, the status page listed at least four ongoing issues across each of the game's platforms.
