Owners of either the Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 should be happy to hear that the remake of System Shock is headed your way on December 18, 2025.
This one comes to you Switch owners from Nightdive Studios. Several members of the original System Shock development team worked alongside Nightdive Studios during development on the remake. The System Shock remake was first released on PC in 2023 (holy crap, it's already been two years?!) and then it hit PlayStation and Xbox in 2024. Switch owners will finally get to tackle the rogue and very evil AI known as SHODAN. You will explore most every nook and cranny of Citadel Station.
This remake retains the feel and atmosphere of the original System Shock but updates it with new HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled user interface, new sounds, and new music. The Switch ports of the game include several Switch exclusive features. These include Joy-Con 2 mouse support, gyro aiming, and a variety of community-requested enhancements. When docked, System Shock reportedly runs at 1440p at 60 FPS on the Switch 2. When used in portable mode, you're looking at 1080p resolution, also at 60 FPS. Specifics for the OG Switch's resolution and framerate were not shared.
