The studio hoped to talk about the development of Monster Hunter Wilds.
Capcom has canceled a planned lecture where they had hoped to talk about the optimization efforts made on Monster Hunter Wilds. The lecture, which would have taken place at CEDEC 2025 in Japan, was cancelled after Capcom staff received threats and other harassment over the current state of the game.
According to information gathered by Automaton, Capcom is set to hold several different sessions at this game development conference. One such session was titled "Making Monster Hunter Wilds run smoothly! Everything you need to know about optimization." This session in particular was supposed to include several Capcom engineers talking about issues related to CPU, GPU, and memory load on systems and consoles.
Now, Capcom has not directly stated the reason why this particular session was cancelled. The reason for the cancellation seems to be a best-guess assumption at this point. However, it's pretty clear to see that the studio has been dealing with a ton of backlash over Monster Hunter Rise's performance and technical issues, especially for the PC release. The PC release seems to have gotten worse following the Title Update 2 release on June 30th, with players reporting more framerate drops and additional crashing issues.
Capcom did take to their Twitter account to state that they are committed to improving the game's stability. On July 4th, Capcom also had to issue a public response to their employees being harassed by customers. In the statement, they say that while they value feedback, they do not tolerate their staff being harassed via social media or through customer support channels.
