Much to the chagrin of all dead mouse alarm "go woke, go broke" losers everywhere, Assassin's Creed Shadows is already 2025's second-best selling title. Video game industry analyst and executive director at Circana (NPD), Mat Piscatella, states that Assassin's Creed Shadows "has been the best-selling video game in the US for each of its first (three) weeks in market."
The sales figures come courtesy of Circana's own Retail Tracking Service, which tracks dollar sales. The data in question is accurate as of April 5, 2025.
Piscatella says that year-to-date sales for Shadows is the second-highest for all of 2025, only coming in behind Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds. Wilds, which was released on February 28, also has nearly a full month of sales on Shadows, which released March 20, 2025.
Prior to Circana's sales data being shared today, Ubisoft stated that Assassins' Creed Shadows was played by over two million people within its first two days of availability. At that same time, VGC cited anonymous sources who claimed Shadows saw "the second-highest Day 1 sales revenue" for the Assassin's Creed franchise, behind only Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
We never get proper sales figures unless the publisher comments on it so this debate will never been resolved, people also judge by layoffs but since Ubi is overstaffed those are probably on the way regardless.
