Game Informer is back. The entire Game Informer team is back, the website is back, and soon the physical publication will be back. Today's happy news was announced via Matt Miller, the former and again current editor-in-chief of Game Informer.
If you want the full story, I suggest you read Miller's full announcement that was linked just prior. In short, the rights to Game Informer was secured by Gunzilla Games. Gunzilla Games gave Game Informer the opportunity to continue on as a new entity named Game Informer Inc. Miller says that Game Informer remains an independent editorial outlet.
The return of the Game Informer website includes a few items that never made it to the public view before all things Game Informer were taken down by GameStop. Some of this "new" content on Game Informer include the team's Best Games of 2024 selections. There are also several new reviews for games that came out in Game Informer's absence.
Going forward, Miller says that the site will once again include "daily updates for news, reviews, previews, features, event coverage, and more."
The Game Informer print magazine isn't back just yet, but it will be coming back at some point.
Our intent is to bring back the magazine bigger and better than it was before, and add a host of membership and subscription benefits, including an expanded scope to our videos, streaming, and feature coverage, while also broadening the range of experts and partnerships we tap to bring you those perspectives.
The thing that caught us all by surprise was the reaction to that shutdown from our readers, viewers, and the broader gaming industry. I received countless messages speaking about growing up with the magazine, and the joy of paging through each month. For many, Game Informer was a gateway into gaming as a dedicated hobby. For some, Game Informer had become the spark that led to a career in gaming. After more than 30 years of publication, it felt like a genuine loss that reverberated beyond our close-knit team. It felt like something that shouldn’t be abandoned without a fight.
