HBO confirms that season 2 of The Last of Us will premiere on April 13 at 9PM ET. At the same time, it will also be available to stream on Max. Season 2 of The Last of Us will run for a total of seven episodes.
Season 2 is set five years after the events of the first season. It will start much like The Last of Us Part 2 did, with Joel, Ellie, and Joel's brother Tommy all living in a commune in Montana. The second season of the TV show will follow some of the earlier events in The Last of Us Part 2. At least one HBO executive, Francesca Orsi, has said that they expect The Last of Us to run for four seasons. While this plan isn't set in stone, it does suggest that the second season of the television show will probably only cover some of the earlier parts of The Last of Us Part 2.
HBO also released several different promotional posters for The Last of Us today. They include Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, and Kaitlyn Dever as Abby. Joining them in the season will be Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, and Tati Gabrielle as Nora. You may also recognize Tati Gabrielle from the teaser for Naughty Dog's next project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
The first season of The Last of Us won a total of 58 awards out of 147 nominations. It was created by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and Naughty Dog lead Neil Druckmann.
