  • Ubisoft Says Pre-orders for Assassin's Creed Shadows are 'Tracking Solidly'

Pre-orders are reportedly in line with Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
A black samurai, Yasuke, and a woman ninja stand side by side and ready to attack some unseen enemy that seems to be out of frame.

Despite the many manufactured controversies surrounding Assassin's Creed Shadows, pre-orders for the game seem to be quite strong. Ubisoft says that pre-orders for the new Assassin's Creed set in Japan's Sengoku period are as strong as pre-orders were for Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

In their latest financial report, the company said that pre-orders "are tracking solidly." The comparison to Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a good sign for Ubisoft as Odyssey was the second-most successful Assassin's Creed title ever released.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot says that the company is "fully focused" on Assassin's Creed Shadows' upcoming release on March 20th.

Early previews have been positive, praising its narrative and immersive experience, with both characters playing critical roles in the game’s storyline, as well as the quality and complementarity of the gameplay provided by the dual protagonist approach.

I want to commend the incredible talent and dedication of the entire Assassin’s Creed’s team, who is working tirelessly to ensure that Shadows delivers on the promise of what is the franchise’s most ambitious entry yet.
Assassin's Creed Shadows was originally slated to be released in November 2024. It was then delayed the first time to February 14, 2025. It was then delayed again to March 20, 2025.

Shadows is the first new mainline Assassin's Creed title since 2020's Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Shadows is also the first Ubisoft that marks a return to day one Steam releases for Ubisoft titles.

Ubisoft says a lot of things. Most of them are risible, including this.

We'll see, the number of fibs they've told over the last few years is truly remarkable.

The executive staff would be perfect politicians.
