  • Elden Ring Nightreign Release Date Announced

This is the Elden Ring co-op spin-off title.
Three warriors in different sets of armor and gear approach a closed, large, stone door.

Elden Ring Nightreign has a release date set for May 30th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Elden Ring Nightreign being the upcoming co-op spin-off title that tasks players with trying to find loot and gear in preparation for the dangers of the night.

A network test for Elden Ring Nightreign kicks off this weekend on February 14. Registration for this test had to be done a while back, with keys having started to roll out this week to allow testers to download the client ahead of the weekend.

A new PlayStation Blog talks a bit about the gameplay loop in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Elden Ring Nightreign’s focus on three-player co-op survival action means you must always be alert and aware of your squad’s movements, regardless of whether you’re working together or strike out to explore separately.

This is because of Nightreign’s Night’s Tide mechanic, which steadily contracts your explorable play area over time, with every session concluding with you coming face to face with a powerful boss. It is crucial then to strengthen and upgrade your characters and party by nightfall to prepare for the boss fight, so you’ll need to get used to the fast-paced gameplay and split-second decision-making.
Elden Ring Nightreign will add in a few new actions and moves that weren't present in Elden Ring. Some of the new abilities include wall jumping and gliding through the air via Spectral Hawks. Fall damage is also completely removed from the game. There is now a sprint that allows you to move faster than the regular dash.

Downed teammates can be rescued by attacking them. This works for both melee and ranged attacks.

A rescue is complete when the dying player’s meter is reduced. If a player goes down repeatedly, the meter will get longer, making it harder to complete the rescue. During the day, if players aren’t rescued in time, they die and respawn afterward. At night, players do not die. Instead, they remain incapacitated/”near death” until they are rescued.
A complete "run" in Elden Ring Nightreign is expected to take about 35-40 minutes. This includes three day/night cycles, where you spend time gearing up and preparing during the day and taking on bosses and enemies at night.

I'm still not entirely sure what the ultimate goal is in Elden Ring Nightreign, but perhaps some hands-on time this weekend will make it clear just what sort of game this is. The base edition of the game runs for $39.99 with the Deluxe Edition priced at $54.99.
