The first poster for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 film, not to be confused with Mortal Kombat II or Mortal Kombat 2 (Annihilation), was shared earlier today by Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon. The first look at the upcoming film shows off Karl Urban (The Boys, The Lord of the Rings, Star Trek) as the mega Hollywood action star, Johnny Cage.
The poster isn't for Mortal Kombat 2 directly but is made to look like a poster for a fictional Johnny Cage movie called Uncaged Fury.
Mortal Kombat 2 is expected to be a direct sequel to the 2021 reboot film. That first film starred Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, and Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero. Joining Urban in this sequel will be Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, and Damon Herriman as Quan Chi.
The first Mortal Kombat focused on the character of Cole Young as he discovers the world of Mortal Kombat and learns of the turbulent and violent past between Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Plot details for the second film have not yet been shared anywhere. With a theatrical release date set for October 24, 2025, it's probably safe to assume that we will see more posters and trailers popping up shortly.
