Update 44 for The Elder Scrolls Online is now available for free for those playing on both PC and Mac. As is usual with these updates to ESO, the update will arrive on Xbox and PlayStation consoles a bit later on November 13th.
The biggest changes in this update is a shift in the PvP Battlegrounds as well as new companions that you can adventure with. Battlegrounds in particular are shifting from three-sided to two-sided PvP matches. There will be two main Battlegrounds match types at the launch of this new format:
- 4v4—a competitive mode between two teams of four
- 8v8—a standard mode featuring powerups and two teams of eight
The new two-sided format will include seven new maps to do battle in.
The new update also adds in two new Companions to Elder Scrolls Online. Those new companions are Tanlorin and Zerith-var. Tenlorin is "a scrappy High elf who mixes Soul Magic with Dragonknight abilities." Zerith-var is a Khajiit that "utilizes the power of Necromancy."
For their launch, both Companions will be available for free to those with active ESO Plus memberships. You can also purchase them with crowns from the in-game Crown Store.
The complete changelog for Update 44, which is again absolutely massive, can be found on the ESO forums.
