  • Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred Release Delayed at Last Minute

All hell has broken loose but only at Blizzard.
A woman, eyes closed, as a blue demonic crystal hovers inches from her face.

Update: The servers went live a bit after midnight (ET). Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred is now playable across all platforms.

Original story: Those of you who have been waiting for the release of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred will have to wait a few more hours. Both the Vessel of Hatred expansion and the launch of Season 6, Season of Hatred Rising, has been delayed at the last minute. The delay announcement from Blizzard came at 5:30PM (ET) with the release of the new expansion initially expected to go live at 7:00PM (ET).

Blizzard says that there is a "small technical issue on our end" that is the cause for the delay. They go on to say that they still expect Vessel of Hatred to launch this evening (that being October 7th), but they note that they "will need some additional time to ensure we have every player start at the exact same time across all platforms."

Since the initial delay announcement was made, Blizzard has provided three additional status updates. The first update came at 7:03PM (ET), with subsequent updates coming at 7:33PM and 9:32PM (ET).

    Update 1:

We have begun locking new logins and players will start to disconnect from Diablo IV services while we prepare for launch.

    Update 2:

Steam players can download the 2.0.2 patch right now.

Separately, players should be seeing a login/license error when logging in. This is to be expected.

We will have an update shortly on some timing soon.

    Update 3:

Latest update – it looks like it will be about upwards of two hours until we launch Vessel of Hatred. Additionally Battle.net players will need an additional sizable update before playing. We will let you know when this update is available. We apologize for the delay and look forward to seeing you in Nahantu soon.
If it does take the full "two hours" until the launch of Vessel of Hatred, that will put the early release at somewhere near 11:30PM (ET) to around midnight (ET) tonight.

This also means you have a bit of time to spare before the new expansion is out, so why not read through my recent review for Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred?
