Director David F. Sandberg announced via Instagram that the filming on the Until Dawn film has wrapped. Filming officially wrapped on October 4, 2024 but so far there was no release date revealed for the film adaptation of the horror game that originally came out on PlayStation 4 and just this week on PlayStation 5 and PC.
The film version of Until Dawn was announced in January 2024. It is expected to be an adaptation of the game that first released in 2015 from Supermassive Games. The cast includes Peter Stormare reprising his role as the psychiatrist from the game. Other cast members include Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and Odessa A'zion.
Some liberties with the film will have to be taken given that the game it's based off of could have multiple, branching paths, as well as several different endings related to who does and does not survive.
A remake of Until Dawn came out this week on PlayStation 5 and PC. The reception to this remake has been less than stellar, with fans upset over its "inferior" graphics that drastically alter the feel and mood of a scene. Fans are also very upset over the near complete replacement of the original soundtrack soundtrack.
