Witchfire, a dark fantasy FPS RPG is now released on Steam, albeit into Early Access. The title spent a fair bit of time (a year) as an Epic Games Store exclusive, also as an Early Access title, but now Steam users can jump into the action created by the team at The Astronauts. The Astronauts being an indie studio founded in 2012 from Painkiller and Bulletstorm veterans.
Today's release comes alongside a new patch for all platforms. This update, entitled "The High Stakes" update, adds in a legendary stake gun called Striga. This weapon lets players "impale or gib enemies with brutal force." There are achievements added in this update, a new Witch Vault, and "enhanced visuals across every region." Some gameplay elements such as Stamina and Calamities have been "redesigned and rebalanced to better support the fantasy of becoming a powerful witch hunter."
Witchfire normally retails for $39.99 but will have a special 10% discount until October 7th. During this Early Access period, the game will be updated with "new areas, enemies, weapons, and tools of destruction."
