The previously announced Final Fantasy 7 crossover content for the upcoming Life is Strange: Double Exposure makes a lot of sense. Both are franchises published by Square Enix. Today's new announcement of collaborations with Polaroid and Dr. Martens makes a bit less sense.
I suppose the Polaroid collab makes some sense given that a core mechanic and plot device revolves around photography. The Doc Martens though? Those are the ones I'm not so sure about.
Specifically, the Polaroid Now camera and Dr. Martens 1460 Smooth leather cherry red boots will be featured in Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Square Enix did provide some details on how these two brands "will be integrated into the gameplay experience."
POLAROID
Max Caulfield, professional photographer and investigator of supernatural mysteries, has never lost her love for instant photography. In LIFE IS STRANGE: DOUBLE EXPOSURE, Max uses the Polaroid Now Generation-2 iType camera to create beautifully imperfect in-game images in the iconic Polaroid style.
This classic, analog instant camera also comes with a double exposure feature that is deeply integrated with both the game’s Polaroid photography mode – and the story! Look for the camera featured prominently in the game, as well in real life at https://www.polaroid.com/en_us/products/polaroid-now.
DR. MARTENS
In LIFE IS STRANGE: DOUBLE EXPOSURE, Max Caulfield wears a pair of Dr. Martens 1460 Smooth leather cherry red boots as she pursues the truth behind the tragic mystery that is at the center of the game’s story.
Equally at home taking photographs in abandoned buildings or exploring the Caledon college campus in search of clues, Max’s choice of boots is a natural extension of her style and character.
Max will showcase different colors of the 1460 ankle boots through the alternate Outfit Packs, with a variety of stylish and cosplay outfits available across all three editions of the game.
