Splitgate 2 was announced. This will be a new free-to-play shooter that blends competitive 4v4 PvP play with portals. Naturally, this is a follow-up to the 2021 release, Splitgate, which reportedly pulled in 22 million downloads.
The core mechanics from the first game are carried over to this sequel. First-person combat is back as is porta-hopping movement. There will be three unique factions that grant players the "ability to choose and progress based on their preferred gameplay style or competitive strategies, while a large variety of arenas, weapons, and modes keep things fresh."
A reveal trailer for Splitgate 2 shows off some of the "faction-forward gameplay, tying in multiple playstyles and loadouts for strategic team setups." Splitgate 2 is expected to launch later in 2025 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via Steam.
