  • Apple Announces new M4 Powered iPad Pro

    Plus a new pencil that is only for professionals.

    Apple held a brief online event today where they announced some new hardware. Among the new announcements today is a new M4 powered iPad Pro, non-M4 powered iPad Air, an Apple Pencil Pro, a new Magic Keyboard, and some AI stuff for Final Cut.

    iPad Air
    • The front-facing camera moves to the landscape edge.
    • The top button features Touch ID for authentication.
    • The 11-inch version starts at $599; $799 for the 13-inch.
    • It comes in new blue and purple finishes, along with starlight and space gray.
    • The cellular version supports eSIM.
    • Preorder now for a May 15 delivery.​

    Apple Pencil Pro
    • It's compatible with the M4 iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air running iPadOS 17.5 or later.
    • Adds a "Squeeze" feature that lets you squeeze the Pencil to bring up a new palette.
    • A new gyroscope enables "Barrel roll," so you can rotate the Apple Pencil Pro for more control of pen and brush tools.
    • Squeezing and double-tapping will produce haptic feedback.
    • Preorder now for May 15 delivery.​

    Magic Keyboard
    • Only works with the iPad Pro 13-inch (M4) and iPad Pro 11-inch (M4).
    • Adds a function row for quick access to controls like screen brightness.
    • Features an aluminum palmrest.
    • Has a larger trackpad that's more responsive with haptic feedback, Apple says.
    • Comes in white or black.
    • Magic Keyboard for 11-inch iPad Pro is $299; 13-inch version is $349.

    AI Features for Final Cut and Logic Pro
    Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 is getting Live Multicam, which adds a viewfinder tool for video production via a new Final Cut Camera iPad app, set to release later this spring. With Final Cut Camera, Apple fans, hobbyists, or influencers looking to make their next big video can connect up to four iPhones or iPads to view multiple camera feeds simultaneously. Logic Pro, meanwhile, gets new AI-generated instruments to add to your tracks. Here's the full rundown.

    10th Gen iPad Price Reduced
    The 10.9 inch, 64GB, A14 Bionic chip powered iPad is now $349. The 9th gen iPad is no longer being sold.
