Epic Games announced the details for Chapter 5 Season 2 of Fortnite. This new season should be live within a few hours of this article (or it's live now if you're reading this later) and is called "Myths & Mortals." As the season name and our title imply, you will do battle as, with, and against various Greek gods.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 will add Zeus along with his mighty Thunderbolt ability, Cerberus, Aphrodite, Poseidon (well, sort of), Medusa, Artemis, and Hades. Then there's Korra from the Avatar franchise. While not exactly a god, Korra looks to have some sort of water abilities at her disposal. Those looking for Ares will sadly have to purchase the April 2024 Crew Pack. The upside to the Crew Pack is that purchasing it will also grant you access to this season's Battle Pass if you're fine with holding off for a month to pick it all up at once.
Some notable mythological locations also make an appearance in Chapter 5 Season 2. Those locations include Mount Olympus, The Underworld where Hades hangs out, the "Grim Gate" entryway to The Underworld, and a Brawler's Battleground arena.
Some new themed weapons are also added in this season. These include the Cerberus-based, three-shot burst Gatekeeper Shotgun, the Hades-inspired Harbinger SMG, the Artemis-inspired Huntress DMR, and the Ares-based Warforged Assault Rifle.
Beyond all of that, Epic Games is also allowing players to take flight in this new season. If you find the Wings of Icarus, you will be able soar above a fight and then divebomb on some unsuspecting foes. The drawback being that if you fly for too long your wings will begin to burn and taking too much damage may result in a crash landing.
There will also be another godly power coming later in the season: The Chains of Hades. These can be seen in the new trailer below.
Unfortunately, Epic Games did not say anything about bringing the Kratos skin back to the store for this season, but one can certainly hope. The Kratos skin hasn't reappeared in the Fortnite store since March 2021.
