According to various reports, the Nintendo Switch 2 will now arrive in the "early months of 2025."

Reports from Bloomberg, VGC, and Eurogamer all cite insider sources that claim various game publishers have recently been told that the Switch 2 will not be out until "March 2025 at the earliest." The Nintendo Switch successor was allegedly set to be released before the end of 2024.

Keep in mind that the next Nintendo console hasn't even officially been announced in any capacity yet. All we have seen and heard about the Switch 2 has come from rumors and alleged insider information.

According to statements made to VGC from "one publishing source," the delay is being made "so that Nintendo could prepare stronger first-party software for the console." Nintendo has obviously not issued any public remarks about these reports.

It is possible that Nintendo will reveal some plans for its next fiscal year soon. The company's next earnings call will take place in May 2024. There is also a rumored Nintendo Direct happening very soon, which was supposedly going to take place this past Thursday. Nintendo reportedly changed those plans once Microsoft scheduled their recent future of Xbox event for the same day. Update: The Nintendo Direct was just announced and will focus on third-party Switch titles.

Even if Nintendo doesn't say anything about the Switch 2 until 2025, the company still has a few first-party titles coming out before the end of the year. Those games include Princess Peach: Showtime, Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake. It may not sound like a lot, but that's three more first-party titles than what the PlayStation 5 will get this year.
