Nintendo Switch Successor to be Backwards Compatible with Switch Games
Nintendo confirms features of Switch 2 before even announcing the console.
Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed that the Nintendo Switch successor, be it the Switch 2 or otherwise, will be backwards-compatible with original Switch games. The new console will also support Nintendo Switch Online, which probably doesn't come as much of a surprise.

The Still Unannounced Nintendo Switch 2 Delayed Until 2025
A delay for a console that hasn't even been officially announced yet.
According to various reports, the Nintendo Switch 2 will now arrive in the "early months of 2025."
Reports from Bloomberg, VGC, and Eurogamer all cite insider sources that claim various game publishers have recently been told that the Switch 2 will not be out until "March 2025 at the earliest." The Nintendo Switch successor was allegedly set to be released before the end of 2024....
Nintendo Says They are Still Working on Switch Games for 2025
That's... a really long console life.
The Nintendo Switch came out in 2017. It's been in dire need for a hefty hardware update, or refresh, or even a full-fledged "Switch 2" release for a while now. Still, that doesn't seem to be stopping Nintendo. The company told the Japanese publication Nikkei (via VGC) that they are still aiming to bring out new Switch titles until the end of March 2025.
