ZeniMax Online Studios revealed the content and story that players can expect to see play out throughout 2024 in The Elder Scrolls Online. The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road is the game's upcoming major chapter that will include about 30 hours of new main quest content and story, new characters, and some zones that haven't been explored since The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.
PC and Mac players will get to begin their adventure through the Gold Road content starting on June 3, 2024. Xbox and PlayStation consoles will get Gold Road starting on June 18.
The story in Gold Road will continue story threads that began with last year's Necrom chapter. Players will investigate reports that Ithelia, a long forgotten Daedric Prince, has returned. It will be up to players to "uncover the schemes of her most devoted followers". Players will also be working to try to protect the people of West Weald, an area located to the southwest of the Imperial City. Fans of Oblivion should be quite familiar with these locations already.
Scribing is a new gameplay mechanic coming in the Gold Road release. Players will collect and customize unique skills. These skills will let players customize their playstyles by editing primary, secondary, and tertiary effects.
The new year of content klicks off with a new dungeon DLC release called Scions of Ithelia. This is a new PvE DLC that adds both two- and four-player dungeons to Tamriel: Oathsword Pit and Bedlam Veil. The events in these dungeons are tied to the upcoming Gold Road chapter and will "task players and their allies to enact revenge on behalf of the God of Curses and defend the mysterious hold of the Demiprince of Maelstrom". The Scions of Ithelia dungeon DLC is out March 11th for PC and Mac, and out on March 26th for consoles.
