Mortal Kombat 1 players on PC are probably losing storage space 1GB at a time and they don't even know it. If you ever had Mortal Kombat 1 crash on the PC, a crash report was automatically created. So, if you had the game crash five times, you would have five crash reports sitting on your system.
While this usually isn't a problem for most games, Mortal Kombat 1's crash reports take up a whopping 1GB of storage space each.
PCGamesN is the first to report on something shared by Twitter user @X-Azeez (whom was sharing something they found on Steam). That user showed that every time Mortal Kombat 1 crashes on PC, it creates a report file that includes data on the in-game crash. Each of these reports takes up roughly 1GB of free space. In a reply to X-Azeez, another user shared a screenshot of their crash report folder where 41.6GB of storage space was being taken up by these reports. Another user said that their reports totaled up to 64GB.
While it's safe to manually go and delete these crash reports, the point is that you shouldn't have to go and manually clear up potentially dozens of gigs of old report data.
Fortunately, Warner Bros. Games community manager Cory Taylor, says that they are "looking at it ASAP." This should hopefully mean that NetherRealm Studios is now also aware of the issue and will address it in an upcoming patch. Even if each report stays at 1GB in size, having old reports be purged automatically would still be a welcome change.
For those who own and play Mortal Kombat 1 on PC, you can check to see if you have any of these massive crash reports lingering. Just head on over to C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\MK12\Saved\Steam\Crashes to see if there are any crash reports taking up space. If so, you can safely delete them from your drive.
