Everspace 2 is now available on PC in full. It's no longer Early Access. It's no longer gearing up for its release. It's out. It's here. Developer Rockfish offers up 120 custom created space locations to explore, battle, and loot. Today's release on PC is priced at $49.99 (USD; $44.99 with launch discount) and can be picked up from Steam, GOG, and the Microsoft Store.
Players take on the role of Adam, a "clone pilot" that is looking to buy his freedom "away from the conflicts of the Demilitarized Zone of Cluster 34." To do this, you will find loot, equip new gear on your ship, sell valuables, solve puzzles, craft, face many dangers, and try to survive. Everspace 2 includes a single-player campaign that is said to take players upwards of 30 hours to complete. There is even more content by way of side missions, jobs, distress calls, location challenges, puzzles, and more. There's some four hours of dialogue and two hours of cinematics and cutscenes.
Rockfish says that while Everspace 2 is playable on the Steam Deck and Linux via Proton, they are still working on performance improvements. A PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S release is expected to arrive this Summer. A digital soundtrack and artbook will be made available later this year.
A major free update is also already planned to be released later this year. This update will add new features, more ship customization, and more voiced language support. Development on Everspace 2's first major paid expansion has also just started. This won't be released until mid-2024 at the earliest.
In addition to the five sprawling star systems introduced during Early Access, space fans will finally be able to explore Khione, the sixth star system of EVERSPACE 2 along with the final chapter of the campaign featuring massive space battles with epic, cinematic moments, and a thrilling final boss fight, taking the challenge to a whole new level. Space pilots will come across new tier 4 playerships, gameplay mechanics and side content in the new star system as well as new legendary loot dropping from certain side missions and the Ancient Rifts endgame activities. Furthermore, v1.0 adds many quality of life improvements, dedicated commodity trading features, more ship customization options, a new set of player perks, as well as a Nightmare difficulty unlocked after completing the campaign on any difficulty level.
