For those of you Final Fantasy 7 fans who never had a PlayStation Portable, today's release of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is for you. Today's release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC will provide to you a wealth of backstory for characters such as Zack, Cloud, Sephiroth, Tifa, and Aerith.

The original release of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion happened over 15 years ago. It was, as mentioned, a PlayStation Portable exclusive for the longest time. Players will take on the role of SOLDIER Zack Fair. Today's release includes a total HD visual overhaul of character models, environments, user interface, and also includes a newly arranged soundtrack by the original composer Takeharu Ishimoto. The game also includes both English and Japanese voice acting and includes the vocal work of "key members" from the cast of Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Square Enix says that today's release includes an updated action combat system that includes the option to trigger Limit Breaks and Summons. There's also a more streamlined Digital Mind Wave (DMW) system.

The story of CRISIS CORE –FINAL FANTASY VII– REUNION begins seven years before the events of FINAL FANTASY VII, following Zack Fair, a young, optimistic Shinra SOLDIER operative. As Zack and SOLDIER 1st Class Sephiroth team up to search for a missing SOLDIER operative Genesis Rhapsodos, he uncovers the dark truths of Shinra’s experiments and the monsters they create. When betrayals and secrets hit too close to home and cause him to question everything and everyone he knows, Zack must forge his own path as a hero to protect the ones he loves and defend the one thing he has left – his SOLDIER honor.
It looks like the starting price for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is $49.99 (USD).
