It has been pushed back for polishing.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

Daedalic Entertainment and Nacon announce that they need more time to work on The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. All they said was that the game has been delayed by "a few months" in order to give the game some more polish. This marks at least the second time that the game has been delayed.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was announced back in March 2019. At that time, it was planned for release in 2021. Following an agreement with Nacon, Gollum was delayed until 2022. It was anticipated that it would be out on September 1, 2022 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. A Switch release was also planned for November 30, 2022.

Given that this delay is for "a few months" it's probably a safe bet to say that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum won't be out until early 2023 at best.

Today's full statement from both companies can be found below.

Daedalic Entertainment and NACON would like to thank all players for their patience and support so far. During the past several years, the team has been working hard to share our vision of a remarkable story, set in a breathtaking world, filled with magic and wonder. We are dedicated to meeting our community's expectations and uncovering the untold story of Gollum in a way that honors the vision of J.R.R. Tolkien.

That being said, in order to deliver the best possible experience, we have decided to push the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollumâ„¢ by a few months. We'll update with an exact timing in the near future.

Daedalic and NACON are grateful for their passionate community and will be happy to share this unique adventure with them soon.
