On March 20, 2022, Epic Games announced that both they and Microsoft were teaming up to donate Fortnite proceeds to helping the humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine. Epic Games committed to donating all Fortnite proceeds while Xbox was committing their net proceeds during this time.

The charity drive ran from the 20th through to April 3, 2022. The final tally of money raised was announced earlier today by Epic Games. That total? $144 million (USD).

This money will be split up between Direct Relief, UNICEF, UN World Food Program, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and World Central Kitchen.

The pair had raised an already massive $36 million (USD) in the first 24-hours of the charity drive. After five days, they raised $70 million. This final total of $144 million looks to be the single largest corporate donation to Ukraine since Russian forces invaded the country.

The massive success of this charity drive was due in no small part to it coming at the start of a new season of content with a new Battle Pass and cosmetics to purchase. It also came at the same time that Epic experimented with a no-build mode in Fortnite, which proved to be so popular that it became a permanent game mode.
