I guess this is newsworthy.

It looks like CD Projekt Red was just caught in a LIE! This mega scandal hit like a bomb this weekend after Keanu Reeves said he never played Cyberpunk 2077. This information comes from an explosive new interview with Reeves that aired this past week. CD Projekt Red previously claimed that not only did Reeves play Cyberpunk 2077 but that he loved it.

This news that Reeves never played the game is just shaking the industry to its core. Outlets all over are reporting on this scandal the likes of which haven't been seen since Watergate.

The actor conducted an interview with The Verge to talk about various topics, including the newly released tech demo that is The Matrix Awakens. Reeves was asked if he played video games. He said that he did not. He then asked if he ever played Cyberpunk 2077, to which Reeves said "no, I mean I've seen demonstrations, but I've never played it."

The Internet went absolutely ballistic at this revelation. Last year during a CD Projekt Red earnings call, company president and CEO Adam Kiciński stated that Reeves "played the game and he loves it." Apparently, this is a huge deal because media outlets and YouTube personalities are just running wild with this news.

How dare CD Projekt Red lie to us... Again! Thank God for Keanu Reeves setting the record straight. We can all breathe a sigh of relief that there are still some people in this world willing to tell us the truth. And if you bought the game purely because CD Projekt Red said that Keanu Reeves loved it, then... wow. Just, wow. I guess the bigger issue is that it could be seen as Kiciński lying to investors during the earnings call, but no outlet seems to really care about that aspect of this story.

The Matrix Awakens is an Unreal Engine 5 playable experience tech demo thing that is available now on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. It's certainly visually stunning (so I've seen through YouTube videos as I don't have a PS5) but it seems the resolution and framerates suffer pretty badly at times.

Keanu Reeves played Johnny Silverhand, a main character present throughout most of Cyberpunk 2077.
