It's like a whole new game.

A new mod for Fallout: New Vegas, called The Frontier, is now available for public download. This mod has been in development for several years from a dedicated team. This is far more than a simple mod that adds in a few quests and characters. It's almost as if you are playing an entirely new game.

The Frontier is set in Portland, Oregon and features a map size that is roughly the same size as the Mojave from New Vegas. This map is almost as big as Fallout 3.

This mod, available now through Nexus Mods, features three main questlines. You can align with either the New California Republic (NCR), the Northern Legion, or the Crusaders of Steel. In addition to these three main questlines, there are over 60 side quests, new items, new additions to your arsenal and more. There are also "tens of thousands" of new voiced lines. There are also drivable tanks, vertibirds, and cars.

Reportedly, the release of The Frontier brought the Nexus Mods website to its knees. It reportedly crashed the site at various times as people attempted to download the 12+GB that the mod download requires. The Nexus servers and site seem to be back to normal now, meaning that you should be able to download and install the mod without much fuss. Just keep in mind that if you aren't a supporter of Nexus Mods, the download speeds will be capped. Keep in mind that there are some additional mod requirements needed for the mod that you will be informed about when you go to download.

There is apparently also a Steam page in the works for The Frontier. Right now, the Steam build has been delayed slightly while the team works "on some build issues."
