Your order may be delayed.
PlayStation 5

The pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 have been a real clusterfuck and they are only getting worse. First, Sony sprung a pre-order date set for less than a day after their recent PlayStation 5 Showcase. That didn't stop some retailers from pushing pre-orders live immediately, sending consumers into a frenzy trying to get one at their retailer of choice. Amazon at least waited until the specified time, but even then bots were quick on the draw and snagged a significant number of those pre-orders. Those who ordered a PlayStation 5 from Amazon may now be receiving emails that suggest their orders may not arrive on time due to high demand.

This is an email segment shared via industry insider Wario64 via Twitter. The letter reads as follows:

Hello,

We're contacting you about your order of PlayStation 5 Console (B08FC5L3RG) to let you know in advance that you may not receive this item on the day it is released due to high demand. We'll make every effort to get the item to you as soon as possible once released.

You can track the latest shipment status of your order under Your Orders on Amazon.com. Once there, you can make changes to unshipped orders, cancel unshipped items, track shipped packages, and much more.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Sincerely,
Customer Service

There is no real word on how many people might have their shipments delayed. Based on anecdotal evidence on the replies to the tweet and comments on enthusiast forums, this letter has gone out to a significant number of those who pre-ordered. We also don't know for how long the shipments will be delayed either.
